CAP Internship Program Recognized

Salt Lake CAP Human Resources Director Patti Timm and HR employee Camille Bitton accepted the Outstanding Business Partner Customer Award today on behalf of Salt Lake Community Action Program. The award was given by the Department of Workforce Services Wasatch Front Service Area Council June 25, 2010.

In the summer of 2009 CAP placed 12 youth interns and trained them in Weatherization, Accounting, Human Resources, IT and Head Start Education. These young interns were chosen because they faced significant employment barriers. The interns did an outstanding job. They learned new skills that helped them move on to permanent full time positions.  CAP was able to hire five of the interns full time.

The internships were provided by DWS as part of their Summer Youth Internship Program. Funds were provided by the Federal Workforce Investment Act.
